CH4 Methane

Methane is a colourless, odourless gas that occurs abundantly in nature as the chief constituent of natural gas.

Its environmental impact derives principally from its contribution to global warming. It is lighter than air, and burns readily in air to form carbon dioxide and water vapour. In the combustion process inadequate air leads to incomplete combustion and the formation of carbon monoxide rather than carbon dioxide.

It needs to be said that cyclists like ruminating cows have been known to produce methane.
